Bean Falls Farm was established April, 1998, in the small town of Bancroft, Maine in beautiful southern Aroostook County. The farm is nestled between the Baskahegan Stream and the Mattawamkeag River. Across from the farm flows the small, picturesque falls of the Baskahegan known as Bean Falls, from which the farm gets its name.

Ralph Jones and his wife, Ann Fitzpatrick-Jones, are the owners of Bean Falls Farm. As retired school teachers, they were looking for a different way of life and knew that farming provided that difference. This family-owned farm was first established by Anne's great-grandfather, Barney Fitzpatrick, an Irish immigrant, in the 1840's. Now, 150 years later, this self-sufficient farm continues to thrive. Ralph and Ann raise poultry, pork, and vegetables for their own consumption. Their main effort is raising registered Highland cattle for quality breed stock and beef. They achieve this standard by sound practices and stewardship of the land, The Highlands have free range on the 80 acres of fields and mixed forest. Rotational grazing is used to promote food pasture throughout the summer months. The farm's foundation fold started with the purchase of six registered brood cows and a bull from select Highland folds in Maine. These original Highlands were the beginning of Bean Falls Farm's docile, quality fold. To insure this quality, Ralph and Ann are participants in the Maine CHAP program. It was determined through testing that their Highlands were negative for Johnes and BVD. As this farm biography concludes, pertinent information about Danny, the farm's herd sire, needs mentioning. Shat Acres Danny was the 2004 U.S. Intermediate Reserve Grand Champion. His fine, calm demeanor and wonderful traits are evident in his Bean Falls Farm offspring.
